Royal Canadian Mint announce new Royal Wedding Coins

William and Kate will visit Canada in June 2011.

With the Royal Mint already experiencing extremely high demand for its Royal Wedding coins, other Commonwealth mints are preparing to release their own commemorative issues.

The Royal Canadian Mint announced via its website on 2 March that it will be releasing a range of coins to honour the wedding, with designs to be revealed in the lead-up to the wedding day.

This announcement follows the exciting news that the first official overseas visit by Prince William and Kate Middleton will be to Canada, at the invitation of the Canadian government.  With the couple scheduled to arrive in Canada on 30 June, popular excitement within Canada itself could conceivably drive up already-high demand for the proposed Mint coins.

With the world’s premier mints producing a variety of issues celebrating the Royal Wedding, this exciting event seems set to become the source of some of the most interesting numismatic pieces of 2011.
