Perth Mint to release Royal Wedding coin

The Perth Mint is the second Australian mint to release a Royal commemorative.

As the Royal Wedding date of 29 April nears, the Perth Mint in Australia has announced that it will follow suit with other Commonwealth Mints and release a coin to commemorate the event.

Officially approved by the Royal Household, the legal tender Australian coin will be struck in 1oz of 999/1000 pure Silver and will feature a reverse photographic design of the Royal Couple.  It will be restricted to a mintage of 12,500.

Though at present we are unable to show an image of the coin due to an embargo, we will show an image as soon as we are able to.

With less than a month until the day of the wedding, any Royal Wedding release is sure to draw strong public interest.  As the cause of some of the most collectable numismatic releases of 2011, interested parties would be advised to stay abreast of limited edition releases to commemorate this historic occasion.
